  3. stand for a long time: he struck out 20
  4. batters in a nine inning game. The
  5. previous record had been 19, shared
  6. by Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan, and Tom
  7. Seaver. During the game, Roger threw
  8. 97 strikes and 41 balls. He walked no
  9. one. Only 29 of those strikes connected
  10. with wood, and only 10 were hit into fair
  11. territory. He gave up three hits and won
  12. the game, 3-1. To this day, RogerΓÇÖs
  13. record remains one of pitchingΓÇÖs
  14. greatest accomplishments.
